All Season Tyres
What are All Season Tyres?
All season tyres are tyres which have been optimised for use all year round, offering a safe driving experience in light winter weather, wet conditions and during warm and dry summer weather.
They have been constructed using a combination of summer and winter tyre technology so they can offer a range of benefits all year round.
It is important, however, to bear in mind that whilst all season tyres can safely take you from summer to winter, they do not excel in either as they represent a compromise between summer tyre technology and winter tyre technology.
All season tyres might be the right choice for you if…
- You live in an area that sees consistent temperatures and conditions all year round
- You do not have the ability to store a second set of seasonal tyres
- The temperature does not drop below -5oc during the year where you live, if it does, you should fit dedicated winter tyres
The Benefits of All Season Tyres
The main benefit of using all season tyres is that you will not need to change your tyres when the seasons change. This means that you do not need to store a second set of tyres, which puts many motorists off buying both dedicated winter and summer tyres.
All season tyres are optimised to face light winter conditions due to a higher number of sipes than summer tyres which allows them to grip icy and snowy surfaces. They are, however, not suited to extreme winter conditions in the way that winter tyres are.
As well as offering an adequate performance in winter, all season tyres are also a safe choice for summer conditions. Designed with an optimised tread pattern, all season tyres can provide decent grip and resistance against aquaplaning in warmer conditions.
